The workshop brings together up to 10 animators and creates an ideal learning environment where the mix of academic knowledge, indie innovation, and AAA expertise offers a comprehensive view of animation techniques across the industry. Cross-experience sharing happens naturally: AAA professionals share insights, indie developers demonstrate efficient solutions with limited resources, while students contribute fresh perspectives and recent academic trends. This diverse group creates organic mentorship opportunities and allows discussion of animation challenges across different game genres, art styles, and technical constraints. This intimate setting ensures everyone can meaningfully contribute while still benefiting from the rich variety of experiences in the room.

Workshop Details
- Start Date: From 6th May
- Weekdays: Every Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Time: 3:00 PM (GMT) for 3 hours
- Dates:Â May 06th - 08th - 13th - 15th - 20th - 22nd - 27th - 29th
- Location: You’ll receive the session links via email on the day of each session.
What we will Cover
The First Two Weeks
Session 1 - Tuesday 6th - Workshop Kickoff & Personalised Feedback: Introduction to the workshop’s purpose, initial demo reel reviews, and defining personal objectives.
Session 2 – Thursday 8th – Production Pipeline & Proactivity: Realities of game development pipelines, pre-production vs. production, and strategies for standing out as a junior animator.
Session 3 – Tuesday 13th – Brainstorming & Technical Approaches: Generating creative animation ideas, using real-world references, and applying metrics for timing and spacing.
Session 4 – Thursday 15th – Studio Workflow & Collaboration: Understanding gameplay animation workflows, department handoffs, and effective communication between animators, programmers, and designers.
The Final Two Weeks
Session 5 – Tuesday 20th – Refining & Expanding Ideas: Polishing character concepts, developing storyboards, and balancing creative flair with gameplay constraints.
Session 6 – Thursday 22nd – Industry Landscape & File Management: Navigating funding shifts, dealing with canceled projects, and organizing animation assets for a smooth production workflow.
Session 7 – Tuesday 27th – Advanced Critique & Iteration: Detailed feedback on blocking, arcs, and timing; adding personality passes to enhance style and readability.
Session 8 – Thursday 29th – Final Q&A & Career Development: Portfolio and demo reel strategies, interview techniques, referrals, and charting the next steps for ongoing growth in gameplay animation.
